Educated Workforce
The Greater McAllen Alliance which consists of the McAllen MSA and Reynosa has consolidated resources to education not only the current work force but, future generations as well. The area was deemed the optimal site because of readily abundant workforce, educational infrastructure and close proximity to distribution warehouses. The McAllen MSA/Reynosa has a strong manufacturing community with two major universities in the area with studies abroad in our neighboring sister city of Reynosa Mexico. The universities have participated in creating joint initiatives toward an on-site curriculum for employee on the job training in customized courses manufacturing and design. Specific grants have been pursued to be available for relocating and expanding companies in our area. In 2007, a two million dollar grant was awarded to assist companies with custom education programs for job training employees.
